We marked the successful closing of the Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) Training (Batch 15), which brought together 16 dedicated healthcare professionals, including three doctors and 13 midwives from 9 municipalities throughout Timor-Leste.

During the 26-days intensive training (14 October โ€“ 14 November 2025), participants strengthened their skills, knowledge, and capacities in Basic Emergency Obstetric Care (EmONC). The training also aims to achieve specific objectives, such as strengthening participantsโ€™ ability to interpret clinical information, identify complications, make accurate diagnoses, manage obstetric emergencies, understand and treat hemorrhage, and apply proper referral and transfer procedures for mothers and newborns.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The closing ceremony was honored by the presence of: Ms. Navchaa Suren, Country Representative of UNFPA to Timor-Leste, Ambassador of Japan to Timor-Leste, The National Director for Maternal and Child Health, Ministry of Health, a representative from the National Institute for Public Health (INSP), representative from DFAT โ€“ Health, representative from the World Health Organization (WHO) Timor-Leste, the 16 trainees representing community health centers across 13 municipalities.
