Domestic violence is a multifaceted issue, and while not all young families experience it, certain stressors can increase the risk. For instance, in Timorโ€™s context, financial instability, communication difficulties, cultural obligation and the challenges of transitioning into new roles such as parenting can heighten issues within a relationship.
That’s why we’re thrilled to share that after the implementation in Dili (Metinaro and Hera village) since 2023, HAMNASA’s โ€œ๐…๐š๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐‚๐ก๐š๐ง๐ ๐žโ€ activity has expanded to ๐„๐ซ๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ๐š municipality! Recently, we held a two-day session with local authorities in Riheu Village, discussing the root causes of domestic violence and the crucial role of local leaders in fostering violence-free families and communities.
Next step: We will bring together 15 young families (husband and wife) in Riheu village for a 3 month-long learning series, where they will explore ways to strengthen their relationships, improve communication, and create harmony in their homes and ending gender-based violence.
